Service was perfect, as was the venue and vibe. Food was very very good--the foie supplement is 1000% worth it, the cheese course was fine but not a must-add. My only almost-complaint is that I really wasn't wild about the pairing. It felt like they were a little too creative--we had a sake, a beer, and TWO orange wines--and things didn't necessarily harmonize with the food. The foie gras needs a dessert wine!!! But still, overall a wonderful night and we left very happy!

We had an amazing meal at Asta last weekend. We had the tasking menu plus the foie gras add on and wine pairings. It was so much fun. We loved the butternut squash soup with cod fritters (I thought they were a tad too salty, my partner did not). Next was the rutabaga with puffed rice which was warm and peppery. The ricotta agnolotti with truffle was devine. So was the sablefish with broccoli and a kind of buckwheat. The foie gras with roasted pineapple was maybe the best foie gras I've ever had. The palette cleanser was mandarin oranges with oat milk foam and crunchy oats, and dessert was a sweetened squash. We loved every bite! I didn't love the first thing we were served - duck liver in a crisp. I am not a huge liver fan and it tasted like liver! :). And the steak with beets was fine, but not out of this world. Loving 6 our of 8 courses seems like a great score. I asked for a non-alcoholic wine pairing, and everything they served was so good. We left with a small bag and salt and pepper candied popcorn and some sesame candy. Yum! Overall, the creative and inventive meal was one of the best we've had in Boston in a long time. We look forward to coming back again. Keep up the great work, Asta!

Wide range of creative flavors. Japanese influence. Innovative combinations. The sablefish was to die for. The western Ma tenderloin was so tender and tasty. Solidly the best restaurant in Boston with the most creative food. Intimate atmosphere. Watch the chefs work right in front of your eyes. Nothing beats Asta!

I greatly enjoyed my meal at asta. Dishes were creative and delicious. The tasting was heavy on vegetables and being a meat eater I was surprised how satisfying these dishes were. Flavors were bold on the main courses l. The vegetable dishes were more delicate in flavor, but still very good. IThe staff is also very nice. I came solo and felt right at home. I will absolutely be coming here again. I was told the menu does change every few weeks as well. I forget the nuances of the dish but here is an overall review 1)White gazpacho salmon broth - very delicate. Very freshing. The salmon roe added some saltiness that elevated the dish 4/5 2)Some sort of pea salad wit mushrooms. Very simple and delicate with a bit of acidity. Very good though 5/5 3) Squash with mackerel and corn- so savory and delicious. Some crispiness added great texture. The mackerel really elevated the dish 5/5 4) stripped bass- another delicious dish. Perfectly cooked with crispy skin with a savory butter sauce to go with it 5/5 5) lamb saddle with stinging nettles- perfectly cooked. The nettles added great flavor to the unseasoned lamb 4/5 Supplement dish Foie gras perfect sear on top and perfectly creamy 5/5 Invierno cheese over dandelion 4/5 tasty! Dessert Raspberry rhubarb sorbet- 5/5 refreshing and full of so much flavor Strawberry rhubarb with angel cake frosting? Very light and refreshing. Good way to end the night Highly recommend. Give this place a shot!
